Flying into Switzerland is a relatively simple proposition and reaching Aeschi takes less time than you might imagine. All three international airports (Zurich, Basel und Geneva) offer direct rail connections to Spiez. The European airport of Berne (Belp) is serviced by airport-train station shuttles to the stations in Berne and Belp. Upon reaching Spiez it takes about a twenty minute bus ride to reach Aeschi.
The total travel time from Zurich airport train station to Aeschi is about two and a half hours. Getting your luggage, going through customs and buying train tickets will consume about one hour. So if you count on a travel time of about four hours after your landing, you shouldn't have any surprises. There are direct connections from Spiez to the airport, but watch out for connections with train changes in Bern, Thun and Zurich's main station, in case you are carrying a lot of luggage.

The total travel time from Basel airport via Basel train station to Aeschi is about two and a half hours. For more information on the airport in Basel please visit their web site at www.euroairport.com. The airport lies totally on French soil, just north of St. Louis, France. A shuttle bus connects the airport to the train station in Basel (SBB Main Station or as the Swiss locals say "SBB Hauptbahnhof". Almost all of the connections between Basel und Spiez are direct without change of train.

This site is only in German, but you still might glean some worthwhile information anyway. The total travel time from the airport in Belp to Aeschi is about one and one half hours. A shuttle bus operates between the airport and train station in Bern (advantage is the train to Spiez is direct) and another shuttle bus takes you to the train station in Belp (disadvantage is changing trains in Thun). There are daily ICE-, Euro city-, Intercity- and Cisalpino-express-trains which travel through Spiez coming from and heading to many European cities. The TGV from Paris stops in Bern with good connections available to Spiez. Busses run on an 30 minute schedule up to Aeschi. If you need to take the bus, please look at the bus time table. Busses have taken over some duties of the train system in the area of local service. The Swiss national motorways from Geneva, Basel, Zurich or Lugano take you via Berne to Spiez. The drive from the off ramp in Spiez to Aeschi takes about six minutes. In order to use the motorway system a "motorway sticker" (aka "Autobahn Vignette", jawohl!) must be purchased for sFr. 40.00. The sticker may be purchased at the customs offices on the boarder, many gas stations or at all post offices.
